Styles of Hijabs from all over the world

The mid twentieth century marked the resurgence of hijab after a perennial phase of dormancy as a result of westernization. Hijab, the veil or the covering, is practiced by all women and young girl who attain a certain age. It started as combination of religion and culture of the Muslim conquest and the local, but got recognition as appropriate expressions from the Qur’an. The hijab marks its presence in a number of Islamic societies all over the world, giving it an exclusive touch of the local customs. For example in Middle Eastern countries black colored are most commonly worn while colored and embroidered ones have been popular and are gaining popularity in Jordan and western counties mostly.

Designers are waking up to this as specialized stores and websites are offering a variety of abayas andhijab along with other traditional dresses are coming up. The stores and websites range massively in uniquely designed, color balanced and modest style of clothing for Muslim women from all over the globe.

Pashmina
These rectangular shaped hijabs are known for their soft and light fabric. They are further available in many varieties and designs ranging from Indian to Arabian styles.
Long Hijab
These are the most famous kind of hijab. It is again rectangular in shape. Usually made of different kinds of fabrics like silk, cotton, soft polyester or satin, they are the longest in the hijab family.
Single Piece Hijab
Introduced and was manufactured in the Middle East, these hijabs are made jersey sort of fabric and the shape of it is tubular. As its name says it is a single piece and is available in many different colors. Ease to wrap around head is its key feature. They are made available in a number of colors and are not very expensive.
Square Hijab
These are worn in the parts of Eastern Europe and Southern Asia. Manufactured from the fabric polyester or cotton they are an alternative to rectangular hijabs. These come is multiplicity of can designs and patterns.
Women in different parts of the world wear hijabs differently. Women in Algeria liked the wrap-style headscarf. They choose a long scarf or pashmina which is then wrapped in such a way as to wrap the hair. This wrap style looks practical and unique. They do not wear a lot of safety pins. All these styles of wrapping or wearing hijabs are mimicked outside their geographical regions as well. Varied wrapping styles along with the choice of fabric and material used and the shape and size of the hijab gives the Islamic clothing a modern outlook.
